» What is Female Genital Cutting?
Female Genital Cutting (FGC), also known as Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) is a traditional practice dating back to 500 BC that involves the cutting or removal of parts of healthy external female genital organs. The reasons for FGC vary in different countries and are associated with perceptions of culture, health, beauty, and moral and social acceptability.
